How We Got Here | Hammer Hands |

My playing career left a sour taste in my mouth and no purpose to pin my identity to. I went from getting flooded with texts and calls from scouts my junior season, to not even making the starting lineup for my own senior day game.
When we got back from getting eliminated in the conference tournament, I knew that I was hanging my cleats up for good and it crushed me. Baseball was everything to me for as long as I could remember. Then just like that, it was gone in a way that I could’ve never dreamed of. Or so I thought…
The truth is, I wouldn’t be who I am or where I am today without the game of baseball. The lessons you learn, the people you meet, or places you go can never be taken away from you.
The biggest lessons I learned from my career were: Never give up, DO the WORK that’s required every single day, and it’s GOOD to be different.
The people in my life have always completely supported me and my dreams. Baseball showed me that over and over and over again. I am extremely blessed to have the people that I do in my life because they are a HUGE reason I am able to take this jump into what I feel called to do.
You NEVER know the places you will go. Anything is possible. The most important thing you can do is get started. Once you do, you win. Now get up tomorrow and do it again.
Before Hammer Hands was even an idea, it was rooted in my desire to give back to the game of baseball. Like I have already said, the game of baseball has given me so much. I learned so much during my journey as a player. I felt a pull to share my experience and the lessons I learned in hopes of helping young ball players who have a desire to play at the next-level. I started to write a book. Every day, I decided to dedicate time to getting words on a page. After having a word document that was overflowing with thoughts and memories from my head, I began to try and organize it all. In doing so, I started to go back and literally read my story.
Instead of reading through it and making the finishing edits like I planned on doing, I read through it and realized that my story with baseball was still being written. (I also learned I have major issues with run-on sentences)
I took my desire to create and passion for the game of baseball out of my head and brought them into the physical world. I have always taken pride in my ability to work hard. Many of my memories of baseball were in the cage with my dad or training with my teammates and coaches. I started to think back to my training and warm-up routine and how I would add weight to bats, balls, and in the gym to improve my game on the field. I see weight resistance as a way to also increase the mind-body connection that elite athletes possess.
That is when the idea of Hammer Hands weighted batting gloves was born. Let me tell you, we have come a LONG way since then. Early on, the prototypes I came up with looked pretty comical and did not achieve the weighted feeling I was after.
Thanks to baseball, I have learned valuable lessons that I leaned on to get me through the initial struggle of turning my idea into a truly valuable training tool.
I did not give up after the complete failure that my first prototype of weighted batting gloves was. When I finished making my first prototype, I immediately went to work on making the next one by improving the aspects that did not meet the standard of excellence I am after. Early on, that meant changing just about everything.
I knew I had a long way to go. But, I knew if I just put my head down and did the work that was in front of me every single day, we would get better over time. After multiple prototypes and changes, the current version of Hammer Hands came to life.
I knew I had something that was special but it didn’t matter what I thought. I needed the opinions of players and coaches. I also needed help getting gloves out there and getting the word spread. Baseball taught me to lean on the amazing people I have in my life. So, that’s what I did. I reached out to current players I knew to get their feedback and it just continued to grow from there.
What started as just a small ripple, is now a massive wave. I can’t thank God enough for the amazing people he has put in my life. Hammer Hands would not exist if it was just me. We have gotten valuable feedback on gloves from both the players and coaches standpoint, we have an online presence with incredible content to share, we have the confidence to be relentless in raising the standard, ALL THANKS TO THE UNBELIEVABLY GENEROUS AND TALENTED PEOPLE THAT HAVE GIVEN THEIR VALUABLE TIME AND EFFORT TO BUILD HAMMER HANDS.
Yes, weighted batting gloves are different. Hammer Hands weighted batting gloves are made for the player that dreams big and acts differently than the rest. We want nothing more than to be worn by the games most RELENTLESS hitters while they train to make their dreams reality.
